How do I fix popping and crackling sound on my PC?

I have been having popping and crackling sound with some of my games and i-tunes. It started with i-tunes but then I started noticing it with some games but not all of them. I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme-Music sound card and I have updated the drivers but still have the same problem.
