Is he interested or not?

There is this man that I have some deep feelings for.I put myself out there & told him how I feel.He's dated a few women, since his divorce 3yrs.For awhile there we would make lunch plans,& then he'd back out of it.This went on for a while.Finally,we talked.He said he just wasn't in a place,right now,mentally,to be in a serious relationship.He said he didn't want to use me for ,cause that would just lead me on.He said "lets be friends and see where it goes."He told me not to take it personally.OK,I understood.As we talked I made the comment"I always pick the wrong guys."He got all offended.He said" I am the right guy."I told him I meant that he just didn't reciprocate.He was still offended,even after I rephrased the comment.He admitted to me he had been hurt,in the past.I appreciate his honesty.I think he does like me and care about me,& I'm willing to wait but for a while.Do you think he's interested?If he wasn't interested,wouldn't he have said told me?
